Martinez scores the 1st goal for Atlanta United as they get another tie.

Braves

The Braves had a great day. The Braves won consecutive games for the first time since the all star break and have seemed to turn it around. The Braves won on the backs of new addition Jorge Soler and Adam Duvall home runs. Although they played well the more important thing was the bullpen who pitched 5 shutout innings with Rodriguez, Matzek, Chavez, Jackson, and Smith. Although it was disappointing to not gain a game on the Phillies or Mets, dare I say THE BRAVES ARE BACK.

Hawks

The Hawks had a huge day. The Hawks re-signed one of their cornerstones in John Collins. Collins got a 5 year 125 million dollar deal with a player option on the last year. It was also announced later in the day that the contract will increase by 8% each year. As for Summer League, their first game is on Sunday, and their roster had a bit of a surprise on it, as it was released today. Cam Reddish was excluded from it. Although, it will include their two rookies in Shariffe Cooper and Jalen Johnson. The Hawks had there first practice today, and Sunday at 4 against the Celtics will be the first time we see them.

Falcons

The Falcons had another day of training camp. Today was nowhere near as eventful as past days. The only real news was how much better Cordarrelle Patterson, as he showed off his speed in a scrimmage. They are still just waiting for a chance to get back on the field at Mercedes, which is just next Friday against the Titans.

Atlanta United

Atlanta United played the 7th seeded CF Montreal, and tied yet again. Atlanta United played a solid first half, but the first 20 minutes of the second half killed them. Montreal scored a goal in the 63rd and 53rd minutes that ended up being what prevented them from a rare win. Although Atlanta United responded with a goal from Josef Martinez in the 65th minute. After that, on a breakaway with Josef Martinez, Josef got slid into resulting in a red card. Marcelino Moreno knocked in the penalty kick to tie the game. Then Martinez got into it with a Montreal player resulting in two red cards. Atlanta United tried to take advantage of the 10 on 9, but couldn’t quite find a way resulting in yet another tie. As for Atlanta United it’s back to the drawing board, as they try to prepare for Colombus on Saturday.

Hawks extend John Collins to a 5 year 125 million deal

John Collins was a huge piece of the Hawks playoff success, and that will continue for the next 4 years. Collins signed an extension that will keep him in Atlanta for the next four years and possibly five if he picks up his player option. Collins showed this postseason how he cared more about the team success than his personal stats, which according to Travis Schlenk is one of the main reasons they kept him. It was also important to consider the fact that him and Trae are really close, and keeping them together is a huge part of their plan. Altogether it seems like Shlenk is really willing to pay to keep the core together.

Braves

The Braves had quite a day today. It started with a win against the Cardinals that was headlined by a 5 run first, and a Freddie Freeman home run. The Braves got more good news with a Marlins win against the first place Mets. This win was headlined by Alex Jackson, the former Brave’s first career home run that led them to a 4-5 win. Unfortunately the Phillies continued taking advantage of a awful nationals team winning by one run. This leaves the Braves 2.5 back of the Mets along with 1 back of the Phillies heading into Wednesday’s 8:00 game on ESPN versus the Cardinals. This has the one of the Braves’s better pitchers as of late in Drew Smyly pitching against JA Happ in his Cardinals debut.

Hawks

For the Hawks it was the second day of free agency, and even though the media won’t make it seem like the Hawks made a move, they still had quite a day. The Hawks made there first offical offer at John Collins, which was 5 years 125 million. The Hawks had another move which was a negative one, even though they didn’t actually make one. The Timberwolves today agreed to a two-way deal with Nathan Knight. Even though Nathan Knight wasn’t a rotational piece, he showed a lot of potential. He was a player the Hawks would like to retain but couldn’t quite find a way. Next for the Hawks is the start of Summer League, and the rest of free agency.

Falcons

Today was a great day in Atlanta Falcons training camp. Kyle Pitts made an insanely good catch, and the Falcons got great news about Calvin Ridley. Ridley told the media about how much better his foot is, and how he is ready for next season. They also got the news of John Atkins coming off the COVID list. Although Atkins is not the best player, it is still good to get that much deeper. Still for now it is preparing for the Friday August 13th game against the Titans.

Atlanta United

Atlanta United had a much better day than yesterday. Atlanta United added Gremio winger Ferreira. Ferreira had 15 goals and 12 assists for the 23 year old. Although, Atlanta United is still trying to find their new head coach, which seems nowhere near happening. For now, Atlanta United is still trying to prepare for the CF Montreal Game at 7:30 on Wednesday.

Braves

The Braves didn’t play today but there was still an affect on the Braves from today’s games. The Braves entering the day were 4 out of 1st, and a half game out of second. The Braves left today 3.5 out of 1st, and 1 game out of 2nd. Next for the Braves is Tuesday night as they start a 3 game series against the Cardinals starting at 8:15 in St.Louis.

The Phillies won which kept the Braves from being tied for second. They won on the backs of a 9th inning rally that included hits from Bohm, Segura, and Realmuto. It also included an argument over whether the score was 6-5 or 7-5. The nationals didn’t go down easy as they gave Ian Kennedy a warm welcome with a 2 run home run to lose by 1 or 2 runs.

On the other hand the Braves had a great time watching the Mets. The Mets played the Marlins and had a warm welcome to Miami. The Marlins hit a grand slam in the first, but the Marlins didn’t pitch well there starter didn’t perform well as he gave up 3 runs in 5 innings. From there the Marlins bullpen took over giving up 0 runs in 4 innings. This gave the Braves a chance to gain another game on the Mets entering Wednesday.

Hawks

The Hawks didn’t have near as successful of a day. The Hawks started free agency day, and did not make any splash which may have been the right one. The Hawks did resign Solomon Hill, but that is not what Hawks fans wanted. They were expected to resign John Collins today, but couldn’t quite come to an agreement. Although, there is some good news, the Hawks have extended their superstar point guard Trae Young. Trae was give a 5 year 170 million dollar extension. This keeps the Hawks main core together at least for now, as we will see what the Hawks do with Collins.

Falcons

Not much of any news on the falcons today as it was just another day in training camp. The falcons did get Kobe Jones back from the COVID list, who isn’t too much of a gain back. For the Falcons it’s just looking forward towards their first preseason game against the Titans on August 13. While it’s just a preseason game, it may be a bit personal as they are playing Julio Jones for the first time he isn’t in a Falcons Jersey.

Atlanta United

For Atlanta United it can’t get much worse. Atlanta United today tried to get a Brazilian forward in Joao Pedro, but Joao turned down the contract. Atlanta United has just been trying to recover from a heart breaking loss on Friday as Orlando scored goals in the 79th and 87th minute to seal the game. Next for United is Wednesday Night at 7:30 against CF Montreal in Atlanta.

Hawks extend Trae Young to a 5 year 170M deal

Trae to Stay

This is absolutely huge for the Hawks. Even though there should be no question on Trae Young resigning, there was a little. Although, to guarantee Trae will be here for at least 6 more years means that Atlanta Basketball at the top is here to stay. Trae Young is the superstar Atlanta needed and Atlanta was the city Trae needed. It is a match made in heaven.

Last year the Hawks had a great season with Trae young and Nate McMillan taking them there, and they will likely be together for at least 4 more years.

Atlanta Hawks bring back Solomon Hill on a one year veteran’s minimum deal

This is a phenomenal signing by the Hawks. Hill is the perfect player for the Hawks reserves. Not only can he mentor player on becoming great defenders, but he can also come in and hit some shots along with playing great defence. Hill could be a James Jones type player on the Hawks as he could just be the enforcer as if anything goes wrong he can be their to fix it.
